A healthy population of non-bird wildlife live in the forests, marshes and ponds of Jekyll Island, including alligators, turtles, deer, racoon, mink, snakes, a few elusive bobcats and many varieties of insects.
Sea creatures include crabs, conchs and sand dollars. Sometimes stranded by low tides, they are occasionally seen inching their way across the sands and toward the ocean waters.
Treat all wildlife with respect on Jekyll Island. Feeding, harassing, approaching, injuring or removing any wildlife is against the law.
