Jekyll Island Photography Workshops

JEKYLL ISLAND PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS

Led by an award-winning photographer

In 2014 Bruce Gourley was chosen as the Grand Prize winner in the international nature photography contest “Capturing Wonderland” juried by Tom Murphy, one of America’s most renowned nature photographers. His photography has received additional honors and adorns the walls of many homes and offices across America, as well as journal and book covers.

From landscapes to beach scenes to wildlife to historic structures to flowers and plants, Jekyll Island off the coast of Georgia is a great place to sharpen your outdoor photography skills.

Whether photographing with a digital camera or a camera phone, Jekyll offers diverse subject matter, environmental surroundings and light conditions that collectively provide a wide-ranging outdoor photography classroom.

Designed for beginning and intermediate photographers, Bruce’s workshops teach students how to:

  • Operate manual settings on digital cameras
  • Be more aware and observant of surroundings
  • Develop new perspectives in landscape photography
  • Frame and compose photos artistically
  • Understand and work with available light
  • Master helpful special effects
  • Use appropriate filters
  • Develop good posture habits for steadying free-held cameras

Bruce is available for private Jekyll Island photography workshops lasting from 3 hours to a full day from dawn to sundown.

Jekyll Island is accessible to the general public. A parking fee of $6 is required to gain entrance to the island. Lodging is available on the island and in the nearby town of Brunswick, Georgia.
